Stress is starting to take its toll on Meredith, who feels the pressure from taking care of her mother and the demands of the internship program. During an open-heart surgery she makes a small error that may have jeopardized the patient’s life. When she crashes and gets revived by Dr. Burke, Meredith admits her mistake to him…in front of the patient’s husband. As the episode draws to a close, Izzie ends her relationship with her boyfriend because she no longer has the time or energy to attend to his needs, thanks to the internship.
