In 2005, Grey’s Anatomy received the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot which aired on February 5, 2006. The special episode pulled in a record 38.1 million viewers. The series has twice been featured as a subject of special episodes of the ABC News program 20/20, including one 2006 episode on the realism of the sometimes outlandish medical stories of Grey’s Anatomy, and real cases similar to them.
