The real person behind Dr. George O’Malley is Theodore Raymond Knight or more commonly known as T.R. Knight. Knight is an emmy award nominee and a screen actors guild award winner. He is originally from Minnesota. As early as five years old, he was already involved in a Theater. After high school years, he was already playing theater roles at Guthrie Theater. He decided moving to New York where he began appearing in broadway.

If you recall the television series Nathan Lane, he became a regular cast member for that tv series. His award nomination for his current role in grey’s anatomy being George O’Malley was for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Though there was a huge fuss about his sexuality during the earlier episodes of grey’s anatomy, he did finally admitted of his true sexuality.
