Finally, after a four-week layoff, Grey’s is back! This episode continues the romance of Meredith and her veterinarian friend, Finn. Their date is interrupted by Derek, who tries to use the idea of Meredith dating as an incentive to improve his (sexual) relationship with Addison.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bailey questions Izzie’s professionalism and conduct as Izzie advises Denny against attaching a portable device that would allow him mobility. Dr. Burke, meanwhile, becomes inconsolable when his musical idol and patient, Eugene Foot, dies after an unsuccessful operation to remove his pacemaker.

Addison is asked by her patient to secretly tie her tubes after her 7th pregnancy, without informing her husband who is a devout Catholic and against birth control. She complies, then gets into trouble after Alex blows the whistle to her patient’s husband. And George, who’s relationship with Callie is progressing, moves back to Meredith’s place, after settling his feud with Izzie.
