Shonda Rhimes goes Off The Map

Grey’s Anatomy may have lost some of the heat it has generated in the ratings game over the last couple of seasons but it’s still one of the most watched series on TV right now.

Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, also became an instant star because of the success of her series. She has parlayed it into a spin-off series, Private Practice, which is also doing well in the ratings.

Rhimes, not content with two hit shows, has another series she is executive producing. Off The Map is a new medical series, think of Grey’s Anatomy in the jungle and you have the basic idea. The first episode performed well. We’ll see in the succeeding weeks if Rhimes has another hit on her hands.

Episode 3: Winning a Battle, Losing a War

A bike race caused the emergency room to be flooded with injured bike riders and pedestrians. Viper, one of the injured bikers, kisses Meredith out of nowhere just as he was about to get discharged and of course Sheppard sees but claims he wasn’t jealous one bit. Meanwhile, Cristina and Izzie are in charge of an unidentified victim who will be declared dead in six hours if he shows no signs of brain activity. Izzie takes it on to try to find a family member of the patient and at least see if an organ donation would be possible.

Despite Meredith’s attempts to keep her personal life separate from her professional life, she discovers that her handsome one night stand, Derek Shepherd, is an attending doctor at Seattle’s Grace.

James Pickens Jr., popularly know as Richard Webber is not only known well because of grey’s anatomy. He also played the role as an Assistant Director Alvin Kersh on X – Files. James is originally from Ohio. He is a bachelor’s degree holder in Fine Arts from
Bowling Green State University. He started his acting career in a theater in New York.

In early 80′s, he was already performing alongside good and well known actors like Denzel Washington and Samuel Jackson. Today, his career evidently soared high as he plays chief Richard Webber in grey’s anatomy. This guy is a roping enthusiast. In fact, he is a member of the United States Team Roping Championship. He owns an American Quarter Horse, whose name is Smokey. This guy can surely play his role well as he have obviously gained quite a number of followers already because of his popularity.

As Meredith and Cristina are discussing their woes in the local bar, the bartender, Joe, passes out on the floor and is rushed to Seattle Grace. It turns out that he needs various operations, requiring a very expensive standstill surgery. Since Joe is not able to pay for the procedure, George manages to find a loophole in the hospital system which will allow for his surgery to be paid for in full.

Alex gains the trust of Annie, a nervous patient with an 70 pound tumor, only to lose it all when he offends her later when she over hears him saying things about her tomour. Derek chooses Meredith to assist with an elderly Parkinson’s patient who could have surgery to cure his diesese, but Bailey disapproves of their relationship and is determined to make Meredith suffer, saying it’s just “For the sake of balance”. Tensions escalate between Burke and Shepherd.

Allow me to know what are you interested in. Addison’s shoes? Meredith’s pants? George’s shirt? Cristina’s engagement ring? Or how about Meredith’s house? Oh! If somebody offered me that house I’d take it.
